Hand & Cloth was founded in 2007, its name an image not only of the creative work women are doing with textiles, but also of the creative, healing work God is doing in their lives. Old Testament writers used the Hebrew word רפא (rapha) to refer to healing, especially divine healing. More literally, rapha means to sew together or to stitch. As each textile is handmade by a woman, our prayer is that each woman would come to know that she too is handmade by God.
Hand & Cloth exists to support dignified work to women at-risk through collaborative partnerships with global artisan groups and ministries. Our team is a group of creative textile enthusiasts curating and creating handmade textile collections that are beautiful, functional and rooted in global textile traditions. We are passionate about creating a sustainable textile brand and model which support women through dignified work in countries where sex-trafficking and violence against women is prevalent. Today, we collaborate with a growing number of talented artisan groups, international designers, and partners to source exclusive, one-off designs for our customers.
